A good learning to read site. There are good quality games and animated stories which children can interact with. The children can click on words to see what they say. Excellent for learning the sounds the letters make.

Coconut Vowels
A fun spelling game where you need to think quickly or it's game over. Fill in the gaps in the words to make a real words. There are different levels of difficulty. For teachers' information the game focuses on vowel digraphs.
Phoneme Pop
Based on 'Letters and Sounds' this game supports phoneme - grapheme correspondence. Great if your child is learning his or her letter sounds.
KS2 French
A BBC site with French skills, phonics, songs, stories and a game.
Sound Sayer
A teaching tool to support whole-class or small groups with phonics teaching. It can support parents too when they are helping their child with reading at home.
Teach Your Monster to Read
A free game for young children to practise the first steps of reading. The game is built on the principles of synthetic phonics and follows the teaching sequence of the Letters and Sounds programme.
