Super Poetry Competition
The Young Writers website has a great poetry competition called 'Peculiar Pets'. If you're a teacher of 7 to 11 year olds it's a great opportunity to inspire their creative imaginations. They don't even have to own a pet because they can create their own wondrous animal to be the subject of their poem.
Entries can include any style of poem whether it be an acrostic, narrative, riddle or rhyming poem, the theme offers plenty of plenty of choices.
Teachers can download free resources which include a lesson plan, animal mask templates, a pupil worksheet and a PowerPoint presentation. There is also a great video explaining the task.
The competition closes on Friday 28th May 2021 so get those creative juices flowing with the great ideas on the Young Writers website. There are great prizes to be won and your pupils may even get their poems published in a book.
