A Clever Angles Manipulative
We would like to draw the addition of Year 6 and secondary-age maths teachers to a super manipulative called Basic Angles, which is an ideal teaching tool for use on interactive whiteboards.
Example showing complementary angles
At its most basic level it can be used to demonstrate acute, obtuse and reflex angles but its various modes mean that it is suitable for different age groups and abilities. It can be used with or without the online protractor.
Example showing supplementary angles
There is a helpful video tutorial and an information section which explain the various controls and ways you can use the resource. We recommend looking at these help guides to fully appreciate the clever features that are on offer.
Example showing five angles at a point
The tool includes five main modes:
- acute, obtuse, straight and reflex angles.
- complementary angles
- supplementary angles
- angles at a point (2 to 12 angles)
- intersecting angles
With all of these modes angles can be labelled with letters to enable them to be calculated.
Give Basic Angles a try and assess its usefulness in the classroom.
