Free Coronation Gifts
Living Paintings, a charity dedicated to reaching thousands of blind and partially sighted people with a library of audio and tactile books for all ages, are giving away coronation gifts to help children see through touch.
They have produced two tactile pictures with corresponding audio guides for three age groups: Preschool, Primary and Secondary children and young people. The audio descriptions have been designed to guide fingers over the tactile images to help children see through touch and build a picture in their minds.
One tactile picture shows the magnificent St Edward’s Crown that will be used in the ‘crowning’ of King Charles III. This was made for the Coronation of King Charles II in 1661. The crown is part of ‘The Crown Jewels’ on display at the Tower of London.
The second tactile picture includes a portrait of King Charles III, as displayed on the Royal Mail stamps and all new Royal Mint coins.
