Inside the Nest Box
© 2008 David Jones (www.mybitoftheplanet.com)
This picture shows the nest almost completed. Look how carefully the twigs and moss have been almost woven together with very few spaces. The birds have made the nest cup-shaped, and lined the middle with animal hair to provide soft, bedding for the chicks.
This photograph has been taken secretly through a glass side to the nest box. The birds have no idea. If the birds were to be disturbed they would leave the nest immediately.
