Eggs in the Nest
© 2008 David Jones (www.mybitoftheplanet.com)
The mother bird has laid an egg every day for the last nine days. Great Tits lay between 7 and 15 eggs in one clutch or set of eggs for hatching. She will sit on the eggs during the night to keep them warm and for short periods during the day.
Notice the dog hair in the nest. Someone in the area must have been clipping their dog. The hair will make the nest comfortable for the chicks.
